Are Your Window Shades Too Heavy To Lift? Here's One Solution!

At times lifting a really heavy shade can be a real challenge. In our line of work as window covering specialists, we've seen unique ways people try to raise their heavy shades, from assisting the shade as it lifts by pushing from the bottom rail to clutching the cord with both hands and bracing their feet on the wall to gain leverage. We have some advice: Don't raise your heavy shades this way! You could damage the shade, break the cord, or even injure yourself. Instead, we have a better solution.

A Better Solution

We think it's a great idea to use technology, or even motorization to aid you in raising a heavy shade. The video above shows one terrific way, which is ordering the shade with a continuous cord loop for a large roller shade.

When you are young and strong, this may not seem life and issue. However, we work with many people with varying degrees of strength. Some are elderly and can't work the system that easily, and some are coping with disabilities, so for these ones, these types of options in lift systems are a necessity.

Hire a Window Coverings Expert

When you are ready to select and order your shades, our recommendation is to make sure you are dealing with an expert. A window covering professional will include a detailed description about the lift choices available for each type of window covering you select. We at Window Fashionista partner with Paul Kempler of Kempler Design. He has over 30 years experience assisting his clients with the proper lift system for their specific needs. We tailor the experience to each unique project: "The function you require, the style you desire."
