How to Style Draperies Over a Motorized Shade

Many of our clients wonder if they should add a drapery or side panels to their windows if they have a "hard window covering" such as the Pirouette Shade by Hunter Douglas, shown in the following video. We say, "Yes." Most definitely. Drapes or side panels add additional style and elegance to any room.

What's the Trick?

There is a technique, and by adding a drapery you can accomplish a dramatic difference. You will notice in the video that adding a softer treatment literally transforms the room.

We designed an inverted box pleat valance with side panels over a motorized Pirouette Shade. Do you think this adds drama to the room? Why or why not?

The Bottom Line

Every design job we take on is unique to each client. No two design projects are every the same! There are a multitude of different fabrics, colors, and styles. We love to work with our clients one on one, in an interactive creative style. We have found that this achieves the best possible look for every room, and expresses the individuality of each person. This takes a little more time, but the finished result is pleasing to all parties involved. We take special pride in making our customers happy with a custom designed drapery or window treatment project.
